The Discovery of Germany (by the Martians)

A clipping from the German newspaper Weltspiegel that was kept by the German embassy in Pera (part of Constantinople).

The only remaining copy of this film is held at the Dutch Film Archive (EYE) and is provided with Dutch subtitles. Although nothing is known about the Dutch screenings of this piece of propaganda, it was presumably considered appropriate for winning the sympathies of Dutch audiences. This genuine mix of science fiction, comedy, melodrama, and war propaganda provides a good example of German attempts to develop indirect propaganda.
