Produced in 1915, Britain Prepared was the first official, feature-length war propaganda documentary. It was also the first film to be advertised publicly by high-ranking politicians and publishers (see brochure) and the first export success of British film propaganda (see Dutch advert). The film focused on military training, work in munitions factories, and the superiority of the British Navy. Although rather static and traditional in it method of showing war readiness, it inspired many national productions, including the Dutch film Holland prepared: Army and Navy Film (Van Aarten, 2015).
